Jorge Valdano has been named by Real Madrid as their new Director of Sports with immediate effect. Valdano, an ex Argentinian international who has played for and managed Real Madrid in his time, will have a free hand in all sporting matters of the football and basketball sections. His first jobs will be to decide whether they need to sign a new striker, and to sort out the dressing room unrest between manager Vicente Del Bosque and the players, unhappy about a leaked confidential report criticising many of them.
