First division squads are now largely complete. Barcelona finally signed Alfonso for four seasons from Betis, and they finally decided to keep Dutruel and Arnau as their goalkeepers, with Hesp moving back to Holland and Baia likely to return to Portugal. Mallorca signed Eto'o in a triangular deal with Real Madrid and Deportivo, and they also came to an agreement with Finidi from Betis. With the transfer deadline fixed for the second week of September, clubs have to decide what to do with the 60 or so players in excess of requirements. Squads are limited to 25 players, with a maximum next season of five non-EU players.
