The club world championship
took place in Brazil in January. Eight teams from all over the world took part,
with Real Madrid and Manchester United representing Europe. Real Madrid had a
break from their Spanish league programme and were also given a bye in the
Spanish cup to allow them to play in Brazil.

Carlos, Guti and Karembeu, and Anelka injured. Vasco Da Gama and Corinthians

Real Madrid 1 - Necaxa 1 (Third placed play
off) Raúl got the goal, but they lost on penalties. Eto'o,
Helguera and Morientes scored theirs, McManaman and Dorado shot
